Full-Time Postdoctoral Research Associate Position: Security or Embedded Systems
The Security and Privacy Research (SPQR) Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the area of security or embedded systems. Recent or soon-to-be PhDs with strong publication records are encouraged to apply. A postdoc will have an opportunity to work with over a dozen faculty and graduate students from both Computer Science and Electrical Computer Engineering on matters relating RFID-scale computation and trustworthy medical devices.
A few of the unique aspects of this opportunity include:
- The postdoc would work with the PI and collaborators at UMass Amherst, MIT, and the Harvard Medical School.
- Access to about a million dollars worth of equipment for embedded systems research: differential power analysis workstations, scopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, FPGA boards, software radios, custom-built tools for measuring power, custom-built programmable RFID tags, explanted medical devices, as well as a large equipment budget
- Generous travel budget for presenting research papers and attending PI meetings
- On-the-job training about writing grant proposals to jump start a research career
Salary range: $55,000-75,000
This position is grant-funded for one year (subject to an annual performance review) with a possibility of extension, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Requirements:
PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: security, privacy, embedded systems, computer architecture, cryptography, usability, human factors.
