Deepak GanesanAssistant Professor, Computer ScienceSENSORS Group Wireless sensor networks, Distributed sensor data management, Low-power networked embedded systems, Pervasive computing, Wireless and mobile computing, Computer networks, Distributed systems. Background: Ph.D., Computer Science, University of California, Los Angeles (2004), M.S., Computer Science, University of Southern California, Los Angeles (2000), B.Tech., Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (1998). Professor Ganesan joined the faculty in the University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Computer Science in 2004 as an Assistant Professor. Professor Ganesan has been a member of the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing at UCLA, Intel Research at Berkeley and the Mobile Information and Communication Systems Center at EPFL, Switzerland. Research: Professor Ganesan's interests are in systems, networking and data processing issues in Wireless Sensor Networks. His previous research has included building a distributed multi-resolution data storage system for data-rich sensor networks, analytical studies of optimal placement of sensor nodes for data collection and empirical measurement of communication dynamics in large-scale sensor networks of many hundreds of sensor nodes. Activities and awards: Professor Ganesan received an NSF
CAREER award in 2006. He was on the program committee for the Fourth
International Conference on Information
Processing
in Sensor Networks (IPSN'05) and the IEEE International Conference on
Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS '05). He is a member
of
the IEEE and the ACM.
