Micah Adler
Associate Professor, Computer Science
Background: Ph.D., Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley (1996), B.S., Mathematics with Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1990). Professor Adler joined the faulty of the Department of Computer Science as an Assistant Professor in 1999, and currently is an Associate Professor and co-Director of the Theoretical Aspects of Parallel and Distributed Systems (TAPADS) Group. Between MIT and Berkeley, he worked in Oracle Consulting Group's National Product Specialist Team. Professor Adler has also been the recipient of Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships from both the Heinz Nixdorf Institute in Paderborn, Germany and the University of Toronto. Research: Professor Adler's primary research focus lies in theoretical issues concerning the design and use of communication networks and multiprocessor computational systems. His current interests include algorithmic aspects of network security, algorithmic aspects of the World Wide Web, sensor networks, asymmetric communication channels, mobile and wireless communication, and bandwidth efficient multiprocessor computation. Activities and awards: Professor Adler's recent professional service includes acting as Program Chair of SPAA 2004, serving on the program committee of FOCS 2004, and being a managing editor of the journal Internet Mathematics. He has also co-organized a number of workshops, including events at Dagstuhl and DIMACS. He received an NSF CAREER Award in 2002. |
