SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FUTURE MATH AND SCIENCE
TEACHERS
The STEM Bridge for Noyce Scholars program has announced National
Science
Foundation scholarships of up to $20,000 over two years for UMASS
students
who want to become middle or high school science or math teachers.
Awards will range from $7500 to $10,000 per year for one or two
years;
amounts above $7500 will be need based. Part time students are
eligible for
reduced awards. Graduate students will also receive waivers on
their tuition
and curriculum fees.
Scholarship recipients must agree to teach middle or high school
mathematics
or science for at least two years in a high-need district for each
year that
they receive a scholarship. The high-need designation applies to
many
districts, large and small, urban and rural, throughout the United
States.
The program is administered by the STEM Education Institute and
the School
of Education.
