I am a Senior Research Scientist working in the area of collaborating-software systems. I am Associate Director of the Multi-Agent Systems Laboratory, and I'm also a member of the Knowledge Discovery Laboratory.

Research Interests

I am exploring issues in combining software systems and individuals to form effective collaborating processes and organizations. I am particularly interested in complex, dynamic settings where people and advanced software entities work together in structured, yet highly adaptable, ways.

Current Research Areas

Collaborating Software Systems — Creating new forms of software-entity interaction and coordination by extending the collaboration mechanisms of blackboard and multi-agent systems.

Live-Representation Process Management — Developing distributed process and resource-centric management and execution technology with continual downstream forecasting that supports human managerial oversight and control.

Oranizationally Adept Agents — Developing agents that adjust their behavior when given organizational directives and, most importantly, are able to determine when such directives become ineffective and proactively adapt to better achieve organizational objectives.
