I graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in the summer of 2007 with a Masters. I am interested in networks and systems in general, and have been working with Prof. Deepak Ganesan, Prof. Yanlei Diao and Prof. Prashant Shenoy on projects in the wireless sensor networks domain over the last couple of years.
I have moved to the PSO group at Google effective July 2007.
My under-graduate education was at BITS-Pilani and I graduated in July, 2004. I worked at Intel (Bangalore, India) for a year before I came to UMass-Amherst to start graduate school.
STONES project: STOrage for Networked Embedded Systems
Wireless Ad-hoc Lattice (WAdL) Computers
This project was undertaken as part of the Intel India Student Research
Contest 2004.
We developed a frame-work that enabled us to map ad-hoc wireless mobile
devices to a virtual lattice. This lattice provided communication bounds
as well as an addressing frame-work and could be used to execute simulations
based on cellular automata (CA) theory.
Secure Traceroute tool for Wireless Mesh Networks
This secure traceroute tool was developed during my internship at Microsoft
Research. (see below)

Microsoft Research (Redmond, WA) - Jun to Aug 2003
I was a research intern at the Systems and Networking group, and was selected
for this internship opportunity among 5 students from India.
My project involved the building of a secure traceroute tool for the multi-hop
wireless mesh network being developed by the group.
This tool is a part of the community wireless mesh project of the Systems
and Networking group at Microsoft Research, and aims at the detection of
faulty and/or malicious routers in the wireless mesh.
Conventional traceroute is done with the use of easily identifiable ICMP
packets. Secure traceroute uses data packets to analyze the packet drop
rate on a route.
The secure traceroute tool is one of the components used by the wireless
mesh-management module.
Intel (Bangalore, India) - Jul 2004 to Aug 2005
I joined as a Software Engineer in the Ethernet Switching Operation (ESO)
group. My favorite project was designing and implementing a complete L3
switch in software (in C). This was used for the verification of the IPv6
forwarding/routing algorithms intended for the group's next-generation
silicon.
I also did a short stint in the Enterprise Software Technology group (EST)
where I worked on a Intel-IBM collaborative project to develop a new
Web-Based Enterprise Management system for Enterprise Blade servers. This
system was the first implementation of the
Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware - Command Line Protocol
(SMASH-CLP) specifications for blade servers and was based on the
OpenPegasus platform.
