The final is closed book and closed notes. This is because I want you to understand the material beforehand. The final will be cumulative, but with emphasis on the material we covered since the midterm. As in the midterm, the final will have a crib sheet as its last two pages.
To study for the final, I urge you to do the following:
I try hard to make my exams like my problem sets only simpler because they are closed book and there is a time limit.
I will have my regular office hours on Monday, May 13 at 2:30. I will also have the last discussion section on Friday, May 8. It would be great if you looked over the old homeworks and midterms and the sample final by then. I'll go over any of these that you have questions about at the last discussion section.
I will hand out model solutions to hw 11 at the last class, May 12, so no late hw 11's can be handed in after that.
Here is the Final From a Previous Year; Answers for your interest, but I make no guarantee that this year's final will be similar; just because I did not ask about some topic in that final does not mean I won't ask about it this year. The homeworks this year are your best guide for what I think is most important. In particular, since there were no homework questions on Lectures 23 and 24, nor on CRAM's from Lecture 21, I would not worry about these. They were a survey of interesting topics that we did not have time to study in detail.
