Brief Bio- I was born in China, where I just got my BSc from Beihang University in July,2007. Then I came to Umass-Amherst to delve to a long-term deep study at the interface of Computer Vision and Machine Learning and its application on Robotics.

Since I was in middle school, I have been interested in Mathematics and programming, and spent lots of time to take Mathematics and Informatics Olympaid contest training. Due to that, My initial goal is set to become a theoritical computer scientists. Hence I put more attention on studying combinatics, discrete Mathematics and algorithm design.

But when I came to Beihang University, top ten engineering university in China. I still like to apply my mathematics knowledge to give proof to problems that I came across in different courses. Moreover, I found that I should turn to certain subject between the theory and application level , which attracts me more. So I took many practice and great effort on several different but computer-relevant areas such as Embedded System, Robotics and Mathematical Modeling.

During participating the Mathematical Contest in Modeling, I discovered that Pattern Recognition is a wonderful new land for me.Therefore I devoted myself to computer vision and pattern recognition research then and completed several courses and projects close to computer vision in last two years of my undergraduate life. Especially, when I became a senior student, I joined the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Chinese Academy of Science as visiting student, which is the top Computer Vision and Machine Learning research unit in China. There I did scene classification under the supervision of an IEEE fellow and an Associate Professor, and learned from some big bull graduate students who enligthen me much on how to do research.

Because of long-term hard work, I have strong background in Mathemaical Modeling (including Optimization, Combinatics) and Computer Vision and abundant engineering expierence with C/PASCAL/Matlab programming both in PC and embedded system. Although I have worked on some branches in machine learning, for instance, kernel methods, ANN and ensemble learning, I am clear that machine learning is an abstruse subject and to really master the model and principle there is a long way for me to go. Fortunately, in vision group, there are many kind guys good at machine learning , I will learn from them and discuss with them to push myself advance in machine learning. It's one of critical steps to realize my ultimate research interest- generic object recognition and high machine vision performance in robustness and efficiency with small samples.

My Hobby- Besides academic lfe, I have broad interests in kinds of activities in real life. I like play basketball, soccer, badminton, tennis and swimming with my friends. And also I like travelling, hiking and photograpgy. Playing cards and PCgame(mainly strategy kind) are alternative way to spend my spare time, too. If you have same hobby, call me freely:-) I can be reached by 413-461-5053.
