Title: Models of Parallel Computation Speaker: Mark McCartin-Lim, UMass Amherst Abstract: Why is parallelism hard to model, and what can a theoretician do in this area? I will discuss the tradeoffs of some existing computational models including PRAM, multi-BSP, resource oblivious computation, and map reductions. This talk is based in part upon what I learned from attending the Workshop on Parallelism: A 2020 Vision at DIMACS.
