I am a Professor of Computer Science at UMass Amherst. My research interests lie in operating and distributed systems, sensor networks, Internet systems, and multimedia. I head the Laboratory for Advanced Systems Software here at UMass where we build systems and understand them through analysis and experimentation.

Recent News: • 2/11: 3LM, company co-founded by Lass alum Gaurav Mathur acquired by Motorola. • 2/11: Upendra Sharma awarded a prestigious IBM Fellowship. • 2/11: Papers accepted at Eurosys, ASPLOS, Sigmod and VLDB • 1/11: Industry grants from IBM and NEC. • 12/10: Papers accepted at ACM MMSys, VEE, Infocom. My current research projects focus on server and desktop virtualization, RFID networks, sensor data management, and pervasive multimedia systems.
