Scott Niekum

Currently, I’m a graduate student at the Autonomous Learning Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, working under the supervision of Andrew Barto.  I am interested in nonparametric Bayesian and reinforcement learning methods that allow for the discovery and representation of hierarchical, reusable skills.   In 2005, I completed my undergraduate studies in computer science and cognitive science at Carnegie Mellon University and spent several years working in the robotics industry before beginning my graduate studies.
