Wilson to Lead Notices of the AMS as Editor-in-Chief

Mark Wilson

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) has selected Mark C. Wilson, Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) senior teaching faculty member, as the next editor-in-chief of Notices of the American Mathematical Society, the journal of record for the AMS.

Wilson’s contributions to academic publication are marked by 45 scholarly journal articles, 11 peer-reviewed conference papers, two book chapters, an undergraduate textbook, and a research monograph, “Analytic Combinatorics in Several Variables.” He has also published several professional articles in Notices of the AMS and the European Math Society Newsletter.

"I have been a Notices reader since my early graduate school days. It plays an essential role in community-building among mathematicians, both in the US and worldwide, and can do even more,” says Wilson. “I aim to build on many recent improvements by [current editor-in-chief] Erica Flapan, and ensure that any changes are continuous and, ideally, smooth."

Wilson joined the CICS faculty in 2023. His research explores discrete and computational mathematics, computational social sciences, as well as networks and data science. His initial three-year term as editor-in-chief begins with the January 2025 issue.
