Help Fund the CS Department's Educational and Research Efforts

Gifts like yours help the department in many ways such as funding departmental seminars by outstanding scientists, assisting undergraduate research and helping new faculty establish their research programs. In addition to contributions ear-marked for a specific purpose, general support helps make it possible for us to continue activities that enrich our educational and research programs.

Why should I give to the Department?

For more than 30 years, the Department has been preparing students for successful high-technology careers in industry and academia. To continue doing so, the Department needs resources, some of which come from alumniand friends. Your gift demonstrates your commitment to the high-quality education UMass Amherst provides. And it is tax deductible!

Why not let the state pay for college costs?

The Department is state assisted, but not fully state supported. Only about a third of the costs to run the Department come from funds appropriated by the state. The majority of our funding comes from external sources: federal government agencies, industry, and you - our alumni and friends.

Permanent Remembrance:

Have your name engraved on a brick in the entranceway to our building. Your gift of $1000 entitles you to a brick paver.  There are a limited number of brick pavers left. Contact alumni [at] cs [dot] umass [dot] edu for details.
