Biography
Ph.D., Computer Science, Princeton University (1993), BTech, Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Professor Sitaraman has been on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Amherst since 1993, and is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Co-Director of the Theoretical Aspects of Parallel and Distributed Systems (TAPADS) Group.
Research
Professor Sitaraman's research focuses on fundamental theoretical issues in the design and use of parallel and distributed systems, and communication networks. His current specific interests include topics in communication (interprocessor communication in parallel systems, routing messages with timing constraints, wireless networks, circuit-switching and wormhole routing algorithms, performance analysis of communication protocols) and topics in fault tolerance (algorithms to reconfigure faulty networks, fault-tolerant communication, and fundamental limitations on network fault tolerance).
